Software Development Phase

During the software development phase the product concept which was identified and researched in the pre-development phase becomes a reality. Systems requirements are translated into design specifications which are in turn translated into software code.

For a given software development project, the particular breakdown of the life cycle and the activities performed within each phase will depend very much on the type of application, the method and development tools used and the target implementation environment.

The emphasis throughout the development phase should be on getting a workable and acceptable version of the product to market in the minimum time. It is always necessary to guard against 'perfect solutions'. Technical designers will often strive for absolute perfection when a very good and adequate solution can be delivered in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.

It is also important not to compromise quality as the cost of fixing errors will rise steeply over the duration of the development life cycle.

Every new product will be comprehensively tested to ensure that it has been developed soundly, performs as expected and is suitable for its purposes. A formal documented test procedure will be put in place from the outset.

All software development will comply with the recommendations ISO9001 and in particular ISO9000-3 (guidelines for the application of ISO9001 to the development, supply and maintenance of software).
